Imported files not appearing - "Missing Camera"

Imported files not appearing - "Missing Camera" was created by robertsco
I have files imported into FCP and already clipped in my timeline. However, once I remove the drive that the files were on originally, they disappear and show "Missing Camera" in the timeline and in the viewer. I selected "Copy files" when importing, so they should be copied into the library as well, not just kept on the drive they originated from, right?
I deleted the files from the library, but not from the timeline, and imported again, but the same thing happened once again. I really don't want to have to re-do this video by editing again if I have to delete the files' place in my timeline. Help?

If you get this message do not delete the clips from your Browser. Just reconnect the drive with the camera card folder, select the missing clips and choose File > Re-import from Camera.
Make sure your media will effectively be imported into your Library (check your import settings) and wait until the files are completely copied over. You should see no Background Activities in the Activity Monitor (the little counter should be at 100%) before you remove your drive again.

Yes, but once I remove the drive the files are gone again. I cannot export the movie at all.
