Render bug when intentionally making the image flicker every other frame

I created many single-frame custom generators and connected them to a clip. (To make the image flicker to match the high intensity of the music). So the end result is that I have a pattern of 1 normal frame, and one black frame for a few seconds of duration. For some reason when I render it out, the image starts normal but at some point starts to deteriorate until the last flickers look like a 240p youtube video. Horrible. Keep in mind I'm looking at a h.264 1080p render, not an uploaded video.

Also, there is a portion when the flicker is every three frames or so and that portion did not have an issue. I'm on a 30p timeline.

Anyone else experience this?

Regards,
Jorge

Sounds like the GOP structure simply can keep up and falls apart. Not at all surprised. You have to have an I-frame codec for this, which leaves out a lot of delivery channels.

Sounds like you know what you're talking about. Too bad I can't follow you. I'll try several experiments during the week to see if I can get it to render without the massive loss of quality.

Is the original media H.264? Try optimizing it. Export a master file that's ProRes 422 HQ.
