several years ago I was brought AVI footage to edit. I can't remember the details but GoPro plugin was involved. I did a lot of work, and then the client dropped the project. Now, of course, he wants to get back into it. Many upgrades of FCP later, no GoPro codec anymore on new machine. XML from 7toX worked good enough to get back into it, but FCPX (10.1.2, btw) could not play files because codec not found. I downloaded GoPro Studio for the codec. Now this is what I am getting, even after 'optimizing' the files:

I don't know what has gone wrong, or what to tweak.
TIA for any knowledge.
PS: where is there a FAQ that tell s the maximum file size for attachments? so I can stop editing this?
the problem in the footage is purple field lines

When you play the footage in GoPro Studio, do the images in the GoPro viewer look the same as what you have posted?

It won't open in GPS. greyed out both in import window and if I try to 'open with' in finder. but info window in QT7 (which will open it) says GoPro-Cineform HD/4K/3D.
could it be some interlace vs progressive setting somewhere? I got the project and sequences to open in FCPX using 7toX XML, but images all have the same banding.
Sequences are not perfect sync, etc, but certainly good enough for a reference to start over if I can solve this image problem.
Maybe I can get an earlier version of the cineform…and probably the original JVC footage from filmmaker. that is probably the best solution so not to have passed thru his windoze system.

I just wanted to follow up on this. I found the HD that the filmmaker had originally given me, and on it was a .dmg for the (old) Cineform NeoPlayer. I uninstalled the GoProStudio, installed the NeoPlayer and all works fine now. FCPX can see and import and transcode the AVI files no problem.
Very easy. I selected whole folders full of strange extensions and FCPX just discards the ones it can't import and leaves the folder with clean transcoded ProRes files.
My fault was that I was looking for something updated, whereas the original plugin was the thing.
all the best,
Gretta
