HELP! FCPX recognise Keywords attached imported media but cannot use them in Smart Collections?

I've got many images already keywords attached before I bring them to FCPX, say from a DAM location. Interestingly, FCPX picks them up during the import and display them in inspector window in its proper keyword fields. However, I cannot perform searches using search criteria of these keywords created in smart collection.
Whereas FCPX manages well all the smart collections created by using keyword criteria and it does it by default when keywords entered manually, i.e.. not the metadata already attached that come with the media during the import.

So, FCPX reads and display the metadata imported (keywords in this case) but it cannot use it for custom created searches in smart collection that does it by default.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks, Soran.

What DAM are you using? It would have to export an XML with the keywords formatted properly in it.

FCPX stores keywords in its database, not embedded in the clip (unless you export a clip with those keywords. So it seems FCPX doesn't search a clip's embedded keyword metadata on import.

Very interesting...

Ben,

The DAM that I use Extensis Portfolio, 2004 version. It reads and searches any metadata that come embedded with the media without modifying custom search fields; in this case keywords.

No, I've not exported yet any XML from DAM for FCPX. Perhaps, I should do that.
But I hope you appreciate that how convenient it would be if FCPX could manage metadata searches whilst it is capable of reading/displaying any embedded data with imported media.
Regards,
