EDL Work Around

Anyone have any ideas about a work around for creating an EDL from FCPX that doesn't involve buying EDL-X for 99 dollars. I am editing a short film for a friend and the VFX artist wants an EDL along with an XML and a "sequence publish" which apparently FCPX can't really do but I figured a work around for that.
Can I send it to Resolve and make an EDL that way? I don't see an option for that.
Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Hi!
If it is a very simple project, I think using Resolve could work. If your VFX artist is going to use After Effects or Nuke, you can use Clip Exporter for free > clipexporter.mindtransplant.com

BTW. Just downloaded the Davinci Resolve 11 Lite beta, and the ELD worlds like a charm.
When canelson said above that it needs to be a simple project he means that an EDL only "sees" 2 video tracks and doesn't know anything about retiming, compound clips, etc. So just prep your timeline to simplify it and you should be good to go.
The other idea of course is to simply give the fellow the shots that are needing VFX. We do a little work flow for this internally that might be helpful. Check out this video, starting at about 7:30. (note this video was made for a fellow fcp.co member, and wasn't meant to be a tutorial)
