Source TC in Multicam ... my workaround: was created by Karsten Schlüter
soooo, for my lil' soccer-reports I was in search for a handy solution to display the games' minute by a title-generator … as you all know, the actual TC-readers display the PROJECTs TC not the source' TC.
And, in my case, to make things worse: I'm editing multi cam (a few unmanned cams as source).... The 'Title' is the whole project on display, goals are applied manually, and there're dozens of edits within 15minutes ...
Today, a post from honorable fcp.co forum member BobbyCo (Thanks for that!) lead me to
digitalcinemacafe.com/2013/12/23/tutoria...ith-source-timecode/
(in short: CCs keep source' TC)
… which inspired me to try this:
as you can see:
the frame from the Multicam displays the source' clips TC, used in a customized Title .. not the Project's TC.
... workaround still under progress, 'cause all Compound clips have to be checked for same Timestamp - my cheap consumer cams are not ext.synched, for sure
AND, in the storyline, not the clips content but the generic title icon is on display (???). Workaround for that: apply the title, when edit is done
For my needs it's fine - check/set timestamps once, add title to each participated clip once = have correct game-time in each edit! ...
... but still: Compounds are evil!! :silly:

… which inspired me to try this:
- make any clip which will be part of the MC to a compound clip = a CC with just one clip
- make the MC from the CCs
- double click the newly generated MC
- double click each clip in the MC timeline
- add generator to each (compound) clip ... :

Hey Karsten,
Seems a nice workaround and I am glad it works for your particular projects. Still things would be SO much easier if that  Motion Time Code template would take Source TC again, just like it used to do.

Yeah it is really just a works-around and it is 'handy' just of this very special need (= a games clock).
For me it is completely unintelligible why such a fundamental feature, 'using' the TC of source, isn't avail in FCPX' latest incarnations.... really, really unintelligible. And as this nasty work-around demoes. it is there… why not 'just' using it???? room for improvement.-
