Fixing a messed up Library?

Hi everybody

So one of my external media-drives was unmounted incorrectly while FCPX was open. Nothing was lost, but since then i have issues with the library open in that moment: all the Thumbnails in the browser are gone, I now only see grey stripes for each clip. Plus there are some background tasks going on even when the Background task window doesn't show any activities. When i want to close FCPX a window pops up saying "Interrupting background activites", after that the application crashes and i have to force-quit.

Anybody know, how to fix this? All other Libraries seem to be fine, only that one open while the media-drive was unmounted shows this behavior...

Do you have a backup copy you can start from?

Either open a backup of the Library, or go inside the problematic Library and trash the contents of the Thumbnail Data folder. When you re-launch FCP X you will give it some time to recreate all the thumbnails.

Stupid Me!

Thanks very much Mr. Balser and Mr. Courtens for pointing to the obvious!
Yes, I could open the Library from a backup. Now I copied the latest version of the project and have all my edits back in a library without issues. But now all the proxies are offline... Neither relinking the media nor consolidating the library fixed that...

Database corruption can break the link between the Original Media and Proxy files generated from these media. When this link gets broken the proxies won't relink to the Original Media and they will show Missing. I have only seen this happen once, and if consolidating doesn't work I'm afraid there's not much you can do besides regenerating the Proxy media.

But maybe a crazy suggestion: with FCP X closed, move the Proxy Media folder out of the Library and store it on your desktop or on an external drive. Then launch FCP X, let it load the Library and close FCP X again. Then move the Proxy Media folder back to its original place and re-open FCP X. Desperate, I know, but it might work.

Thanks for that suggestion Mr. Courtens. Unfortunately it didn't work.
Also had the idea to drag new Proxy-Symlinks into the Library, but also without success. So I had to regenerate the proxies.

Very much appreciate the willingness to help in this forum. A big thank you for that!

Cheers
