FCPX killing me Exported DVD/Blu Ray Audio Crackling-Solved
During all previews of my projects everything sounded great now I export to DVD/Blu Ray which still doesn't export the background or logo in Blu Ray....and no one can answer why?
I now have audio crackling and pops that never existed during the previews or .mov renders or exports....These little
bugs are really starting to make me want to go back to premiere...never had these issues with it...at least not as many...Im trying to be open to FCPX and the forum has been very helpful but geez really?
Simple things like exports after all the work shouldn't be so hard?

What are you using to review your dvd and bluray?
Btw I have done do dozens of jobs that have delivered bluray and dvd straight from #fcpx and I haven't seen any of these issues. I suspect it is something with your setup.

No peaking audio everything under 0 DB and mainly around -6db
Project audio set at surround sound 96 kHz
popping or crackling sounds only occurred in the export to DVD
Reviewing on Samsung 42" Smart TV
Final Cut Pro 10.1.2
I monitored the project during layout with external headphones and monitor speakers with no popping.
Just ran the whole video and average volume is -12db but ranges from -20db to -6db

What kind of player are you using to review the DVD on the Samsung? Have you reviewed this on other DVD players? Perhaps the built in mac DVD player?
What kind of surround sound decoder are you using, if any when you review the DVD?
What surround sound decoder are you using to monitor surround audio out of FCPX?
Are you using the same speakers to monitor the DVD player as well as FCPX?
Why are you using mixing in 96K audio? Did you capture audio at 96K ?

Blu Ray and the crackling isn't there? Yes we had some recording in 96 but I am reducing that today. I have to finish this tonight my deadline is tomorrow.
I have one issue now on the Blu Ray that the scrolling text and pan shots are jerky.
I am using an external Samsung Blu ray player on the Samsung Smart TV via HD cable. Its a cheap blu ray player and may be causing the jerky scrolling issue.

I'm not exactly sure what you are saying. However, the audio files, AC3, for BluRay and DVD are actually the same file. Are you saying that when you watch it one BluRay there is no crackling? If you play the DVD using the mac DVD Player app, does it still crackle?

If you want to try this, you can just change the properties for your project timeline to 48K, no need to convert.

There are many reasons why scrolling text can appear jerky, as well as panning shots. The TV refresh rate, the camera it was shot on, and I imagine the BluRay/DVD player. The jerky text is also caused when it is simply moving too quickly. Why don't you try slowing it down.

wish I could slow it down but its based on the time of clip. May issue maybe the project is in 1080p 30fps and Blur Ray is 25fps exported from FCPX

Yep. That will cause all sorts of funny jerky motion. FCP will convert between frame rates, but it doesn't do any frame blending or other processes to clean up a conversion like that.
Something you might want to do is dupe your timeline and then see if you can change the frame rate to 25fps. Typically you always want to make your timeline the same frame rate as your deliverable.
If the project settings doesn't let you do it, then after you dupe the timeline, do a select all on the timeline, cut. Then change the frame rate and in project settings and then paste. It may prompt you again, but make sure you keep your 25fps.
Regarding your 25fps, the popping you are hearing could completely be the result of a DVD player not properly playing 25fps.

By the way, if I could encourage you next time you post to be cautious about quickly calling something a bug. As you will probably discover many of the posts here where someone originally sighted a bug, are in fact a result of something else.
Keep on learning.

About rendering. You might be interested to know that many pro FCPX users just don't render. On your machine which a slightly underpowered, you might need to, but frankly I never render, unless it is a small portion of a project that just won't play back in real time.
Check out this survey of folks and their workflow habits including rendering.

One of the particular things about FCP X is how it handles render files when you constantly re-render clips: it never deletes the older render files unless you specifically tell it to do so.
The advantage to this is that no matter how many times you press Undo your clips will always stay rendered if there are old render files available.
The disadvantage is that these old render files may cause conflicts with te latest render files when you re-open a Project, causing FCP X to lose connection to the renders. This specifically happens with some third-party filters, and it happens much more often when you have Background Rendering turned on because Background Rendering constantly re-renders everything even when it is not required. That's why most of us keep Background Rendering turned off.
If you work on a fairly decent system you will find you hardly need to render anything at all. And if you do have to constantly re-render clips the best way to avoid render file corruption is to delete unused render files before you quit FCP X. You can do this within the UI.
