How to Export and Burn Double Layer Blu Ray-Solved was created by cb2014
I have just finished a project/movie and exported it from FCPX to a Blu Ray .img file that
is a little over 5 G in size. I also bought a new LG External 14x BE14NU40 Blu Ray burner.
Apples built in Blu Ray software in Mavericks isn't any help. I bought Blu-Ray creator but it only seems to handle single layer Blu-Rays very disappointed....
What software do I need to get my movie to a Double Blu Ray Video?
I spent a lot of time doing everything in HD 1080p and don't want to lose and quality.
Thanks for any suggestions or help!

hmm Blu-Ray creator says it accepts double layer burning but won't import the .img file exported from FCPX?

5G is only one fifth of the size of a single layer BD - so why do you want to burn to a dual layer disc?
If you rename the .img to .iso does that fix your problem?

The img file is 5 G but the app is only allowing 4.5 G disk space...and it won't import an .img.
I have contacted their support but I also realized if I just change the output from disk to bluray
it burns fine on single or double layer disc right from fcpx...all is good now

If it's only allowing 4.5GB then it's in DVD mode not Blu-ray mode.

First of all it's really confusing that you guys all have the same avatar.
Final Cut Pro X can burn a bare-bones Blu-ray direct from the app without needing to export anything first. Have you tried that? It burns right inside the application, no external burning software needed. You can even do AVCHD on a standard DVD but then you'd be limited in file size and yes, restricted to a single DVD layer. Not really a good idea except for short projects.
Toast can burn dual layer BDs I think. But as... one of you said, you're in DVD mode for some reason. I don't know what's going on with this IMG or ISO nonsense. I usually just export a ProRes file, encode into a Blu-ray compatible .264 file and then author in Encore (version 6.0.0 only never go to 6.0.1 or it will not work.) I like to add menus, commentary tracks, hidden features and stuff.

.img is a disk image, not much but the OS X Finder natively reads the contents. You need to "mount" the disk image, then use the files contained on that volume to burn.
But as stated, just make a ProRes and let Toast take care of the rest.

Agree with Redifer, major avatar confusion.
As for Toast, it does do DLBD's but you need to purchase the added HD package with the standard Toast 11 app. Roxio now owned by Corel is not known for its tech/user help so you are mostly on your own when it comes to resolving any issues. That said it does work.
Sounds like you resolved the DVD disk vs Blue-ray Disk issue so no limit on burning.
Hope this helps, Greg

I added an avatar to ease confusion...Thanks everyone I did resolve the burning issue but have a new post regarding the export missing the chapters and background images etc...
I used to just do all this in Roxio....but seems like if FCPX says it should do it ....seems easier to just use FCPX and I don't have Toast...
