I made a completely new system setup (10.9.3) on a fresh drive.
I installed FCP X (10.1.2).
I installed BMD drivers.
I opened (converted) an 10.1.1 library.
I wanted to add a new project.
That's the resulting view.

Any ideas out there?

It's the canvas. No other app active.
I can't click it away.
The issue is not happening always. Pressing cmd-. and trying again mostly helps. But it is somehow annoying.

Yes! I can repeat this situation on my system. When I update libraries I see this and I have to force quit the app.

I have 2 1920x1200 displays but nothing displayed on the 2nd one in this basic setup. As said it's "a fresh setup out of the box".
I can't click any thing in the panel or elsewhere but can use keyboard short cuts.

Quit FCP X and disconnect the second display. Then relaunch FCP X and see if you still have the problem. If not: reconnect the second display again with FCP X opened and see if the problem comes back.
