Howdy ya all. I was wondering if RG color suite is worth it, or is FCPX good enough? Also DaVinci lite is free. What do you guys think should I get Red Giant color suite?

How seriously and in-depth do you want to learn color grading?

Very Seriously! I know the basics of color correction in FCPX and have played around with DaVinci Lite. But to tell you the truth Da Vinci scares me because it's crashed a number of times on me. I've read Da Vinci has this problem with some newer Mac's and I got a new Mac. I don't know if or when the bugs might get worked out.
I do primarily music videos and kinda documentary stuff I like realistic looks rather than those crazy plugin effects. I'm not making cinematographic epic films or anything not that I would rule that out sometime in the future, I do have Red Giant "MOJO" and I like that and can do some interesting stuff, but in the end I always just want a realistic look.......So the question is for this kinda stuff is the Color Suit worth getting or am I pretty much covered in FCPX and hopefully Da Vinci Lite if they work out those bugs
Here is an example of what I do. For my day job I'm a Guitar maker.

There is a recent update to Resolve you may want to get.
I think FCPX should do you fine. If you need more control, look at some of the plugins that add color correction controls, not presets.

Good to know, thanks for the replies I think I stick with what I have and as you suggested look at some plugin options.
I just down loaded Da Vinci about 10 days ago I'll look and see if there are any updates.
