I've selected a group of clips and then selected the corresponding audio clip and used the sync command but while fcpx says the clips have been synced and they are appearing in my event, some of the video is not appearing while I can hear the audio.
Any thoughts?

The sync command is for single video files. You want the multicam clip function.

If you need to combine multiple video clips you select them, right-click on them and use New Multicam Clip.

Open the multicam clip and post screen shots of what you're not seeing and should be seeing.

You're not opening the multicam clip. Double-click it.

Three video clips synced up to one piece of audio. The three video clips are shorter than the one piece of audio. One video clip starts before the audio and there are gaps where there is no video to cover the audio, at least not the way FCP syncs it. Is the multicam clip in sync when you play it back?

No it isn't. I selected the video clips and external audio clip and created a multicam clip.
I had been creating compound clips and synching the compound clip to the external audio and this was working to a degree but was leaving out video in some cases.

I'm just describing what I see in the multicam clip. Did you make selections on the clips before you synced them.

Hmmm, I have noticed what looks like in and out selections markers that are not bright yellow but brown and thinner , have you experienced this, I'm not sure I had made selections first, i'll try to make another multicam now. Thanks for your patience.
