Strobe effect not showing up on youtube

I have a strobe effect in a video I made and it shows up fine in FCP and on my desktop but once I upload it to youtube/vimeo the strobe effect disappears, replaced by a few seconds of light lag. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Thanks

Export as ProRes first, then manually upload that to YT.
Also, make sure you're not using 60 or 30fps, as YT, I believe, lowers frame rates a bit, which could mess up a strobe effect, I think.

I tried changing the project properties but noticed that there are several types of ProRes (ProRes 444, ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, ProRes 422 LT). Which one is correct? Also I noticed that the only option for frame rate is 60 fps.

Create a new project at the settings and frame rate required, then copy and paste your clips from the old project to the new one.

If you're going out to YouTube or Vimeo, ProRes 422 or LT will do just fine.

I was able to get the strobe effect to show up on youtube at 59.94 fps but no higher. The flashing was only about half the speed I wanted though. I was also able to get it to show up at 30fps at about half speed. I heard that youtube reduces the frame rate of videos automatically. Is this true, and if so is there a way to turn this feature off?

YouTube does what they want, and there's not much you can do about it. If I have something going to YouTube or Vimeo, I edit at 59.94 to start with.
