Cant see external audio recording when I break apart clip???

I've created a compound clip of several clips( 3 takes) of a person speaking to camera with in camera audio. I've then taken the boom mic audio of this and used the sync 2 clips function in fcpx. The problem is I'm only able to see one audio source the in camera audio when i double click the clip, what am i doing wrong here?

Right-click the clip, choose "Expand Audio Components". With the components expanded, and the video portion selected, go to the Inspector, very bottom of the Audio section, Channel Configuration, and configure the channels as you wish.

That double-click only shows you the audio as a single entity for trimming as a whole. Expanding the "components" allows you to edit the individual channels.
