I have a mask that I created in Pixalmator that I use in FCPX. The mask is actually two areas angled in 4%. One is for a video of someone giving a presentation and the other area is for the PowerPoint. Right now when I use the mask I have to transform both items to have them fit the masks. I would like to have those transform to be part of the template/mask so I don't have to transform the video and the slides each time I use it. I know that I could use Drop Zones but drop zones don't take the audio. Is there a way to create this template for the way I want it to work?

You could make an effect in Motion with the defaults set to the transformation changes that you want. You'd want to make a separate effect for each side though, but it would save quite a bit of time if you do this pretty often.

I have these created already in various forms. Download them, they're free, and follow the included installation instructions, and then in Motion, tweak to what you need.

If you have FxFactory Pro, try the effect 'Perspective Reflection'. If memory serves, there's a 'swingback' parameter which can be keyframed to animate the transitions. I've used the effect extensively with multicam video sequences and presentation slides/video inserts.

Ben thank you for the generators and filters. The Side by Side is the most promising for what I want to do. One thing I have always had a problem is how to make the Drop Zone be the size I need it to be. In this case I am using slides from Powerpoint that are 720x540. When I use them in the Drop Zone both the top and bottom are cut off. Actually now that I look at the Drop Zone in a project it looks like that if I change the Crop that I get the full slide. Should I publish that perimeter then?

I have decided to make the effect myself. I want the left box (Effect Source) to be able to Scale and Pan. At one point I created a Rig and added the Scale and Pan parameters. Somehow I screwed it up so I deleted the rig to start over. Now when I click on the Effect Source/Inspector/Image/Final Cut Placeholder there is still a Rig icon next to the Scale sliders. I am able to add a Widget for Scale to the Rig but I can not get it to work. I can make other Widgets. The Pan widget works fine. Is there anyway to get rid of the icon/widget or is this a bug?
