Moving files into FCPX

Hi all!
My scenario is this:
I have over 750GB of media in my "Videos HD" drive. I'll use the same drive to store all my FCPX Libraries so... I though... Just move the files will fit the same way in the HD. Wrong!
FCPX copies the files or create shortcuts. But I want to consolidate, to keep them all in the FCPX control.
What I have done is to add the media to FCPX as shortcuts. After it finishes, I move the files into the FCPX library replacing the shortcuts. It works. Sometimes it shows the yellow warning sign next to the event but no files are missing.
Is there a better way to do this?

Using the Consolidate Project Files, Consolidate Event Files, and/or Consolidate Library Files commands?
