Loosing compound clips during Import/Export via FCPXML

Loosing compound clips during Import/Export via FCPXML was created by weichsel
I have a very simple Final Cut Pro X (10.1.1) project with the following structure:
- Compound Clip wrapping a Motion 5 Generator (640x480, 30p)
- Video Clip (640x480, 30p)
Both clips use the same, custom format.
FCP X shows the format as follows:
When I export the above project, and re-import it into a fresh library, the import works and the project looks fine at a first glance. But when I restart Final Cut, the project falls apart and I can no longer see the compound clip in the clip browser. Additionally FCP X renders a red bar across the timeline.
I noticed, that this only happens if I use a custom format.
The annoying thing about this issue is, that the import seems to work initially and that the project works as expected until I restart FCP X.
I attached a XML project that shows the problem.
Is there a proper way or a workaround to Import/Export FCPXML projects that use compound clips with custom formats?
