Where to put AUDIO so that it shows in FCPX?

Hi guys,

I got stuck with my Audio Browser in FCPX. It shows me several folders (i.e. Final Cut Pro Sound Effects, iLife Sound Effects...).

Trying to reveal those folders in the Finder shows the "Final Cut Pro Sound Effects" as a subfolder in Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple ...

I can not find the "iLife Sound Effects" folder, though.

Now I installed Apple's "Main Stage" which brings an additional 20GB of loops (the former Logic Jam Packs). They also got installed in the Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple-folder, where my "Final Cut Pro Sound Effects" reside as well. Only in different subfolders like "Jam Pack 1", "Jam Pack Remix Tools" and the like.

Unfortunately those new files won't show up in FCPXs music tab. Neither will the folders.

Where is the flaw? Where do I have to put my sound files so they become available in FCPX? And where are those darn iLife Sound Effects?

Any help is much appreciated.

Have a great weekend,
Sebastian

Did you try dragging the folders into the FCP music browser?

No, Tom, I didn't. This never occurred to me, I thought that FCPX would just look at a certain folder and then list what's in there. Not at my Mac right now but will try and post back soon. Thanks!

There seems to be different Libraries: Try this path....Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Apple Loops/Apple/Final Cut Pro Sound Effects

Hi Jim,

that's not what I want because I don't want throw all files into the same folder but rather keep them in separate folders. Might be easier to keep under control in the long run. So if I could avoid this, I'd be glad.

Thanks amyway!

drag folders into the music/sound browser, they will show up.

not sure if loops will show up, but other audio formats will

I also have a dropbox folder that is shared with some files in it that other users can add to

If you follow the MacintoshHD path in Finder...you can add as many folders as you want. .....Finder, File, New Folder...
Then open a New Finder Window, find your audio files and drag them into the folders you added.
