I have an issue with audio in my timeline.

The video and audio are showing in the timeline however, the audio does not play.

I can go to the file in the Event Library and it plays perfectly.

Any suggestions.

Are you seeing the waveform in the Timeline?

Have you verified the volume level settings in the Inspector?

What format is the original media?

I convert every audio clip I ever deal with to AIFF. MP4 is way too compressed for my tastes. Technically it is supported, but I've also had some issues with MP4 and FCPX in the past.

Hmm. I always used to convert .mp3 to AIFF for old FCP, but since moving to FCPX I've never bothered, and never had a problem. I'll happily throw compressed audio on the timeline, just as I'll happily cut AVCHD or H.264 rushes without first transcoding to ProRes.

In this case: is it possible the role is turned off in the timeline index pane? That's bitten me before now.
