Unclear Photos? was created by Flippin-in
Hello FCPX Experts!
Can anyone tell me why when I add a photo to the timeline it appears clear in the preview but when playing, it becomes seriously out of focus? How can I correct this?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

It's not rendered. Set the viewer to high quality playback.

So, quite possibly stupid question number 2 is...I thought it rendered in the background. It's just not set for HQ rendering? The vid clips all are clear. Not sure I get it.

Tom is the epitome of an FCP Xpert.
Another option for those who like to leave 'background rendering' off is you can select a clip or a specific range of clips and then hit control-r. It will background render just those clips in the project.
Being one of the people that prefers leaving background rendering off, this has given me the best of both worlds.

FCP X only renders in the background if you aren't actively working in it. (Or unless you have a 12-Core nMP)
You have the option in the preferences to never background render, but it's enabled by default.
