Hello!

We have recently purchased the SliceX and TrackX licenses for use in an automotive DVD in which a lot of faces and plates need blurring.

How many of you have extensive experience with the mask blur in SliceX?

What tips and tricks can you offer for such a task?

I'll be blurring upwards of 100 clips in a week's time with this tool.

Thanks!

It's pretty straight forward. Be sure to watch all of the tutorials CoreMelt has up. Tracking is best when you have an edge or object with sharp edges and hard contrast. The more clear and well defined the target, the easier and more acurate the tracking.

Of course - a clear target is always the ideal situation. However, considering the fact we do a LOT of automotive videography at night, there are a TON of shots that are hard to see and fast moving camera action involved where we can't get a good track. In this case, I need to be able to manually keyframe a mask shape, but I have yet to figure out a good way to do this with sliceX.

You can easily manually keyframe in SliceX and TrackX.

In your case, I'd shoot as bright as possible, and the fastest frame rate possible, also.

I do have a question while I have your attention.

I have a clip that has a face in the shot, but the lighting isn't good enough to get a track on it, so I just want to be able to keyframe a circle there without transforming the shape (leave the same diameter the entire length). Do you recommend I just keyframe the effect on the inspector panel to modulate the position and move the shape as the face moves around the shot? Or is there a built in feature for handling this?

Thanks!

In this case I would recommend to just keyframe the position values using the inspector. This is done using built in keyframes rather than the special keyframe palette which is used for shape keyframes.
