Missing Files in Browser causing timeline clips to appear black when stabilized was created by whimsicallyblah
Hi, I'm encountering a weird problem on FCPX 10.1.1. I am editing a project from an XML file started by someone else. When i imported the XML into my final cut and reconnected the media everything was working just fine (including the clips that were stabilized). After working on the project and coming back to it a couple hours later, I noticed some files in the timeline were blacked out. All of these blacked out clips had the stabilization effect on. After turning the stabilization off they reappeared, but I cannot use the stabilization on any clips. I also noticed that the .mov files are missing from the browser. Is there a way to get them to show back up so I can use the stabilization filter?

When you say there are .Mov files missing from the browser, do you mean you have clips in the browser that show the red "Media Offline" warning?

No, the files are still connected and the playback (aside from the blacked out stabilized clips) is fine, but the only files that show up in the browser is the audio files, the video files are no longer listed in the browser, but they were at the beginning of importing the XML.

We have a similar problem here. e.g. if I import a multicam sequence from pluralEyes, the clips are either imported as a double (if I already had the media imported previously) or not at all (If choose to import the xml manually, without the automatic transfer into FCPX).
As a result, sometimes the media plays back fine in the timeline but the clips do not show up in the browser.
The weird thing is: hitting shift-F (reveal in browser) suddenly makes the clip visible in the browser.
this is really annoying e.g. when creating proxies, because the "hidden" files are not transcodes. This means, we have to hit shift-f for every single clip to make it show up in the browser...... annoying!
