PROJECT EVENT LOST ON CRASH

Hello,
First off, thanks for reading! This is my very first post on FCP.Co and likely not the last.
I am working in FCPX 10.1.1 on Mac OSX 10.9.1. Working from a 4tb G-Raid with Thunderbolt connection. FCPX Libary is on external drive with BU set to my boot drive.
Last night upon closing out of FCPX my computer had a kernal panic. This has been happening quite frequently btw. After re-booting and opening the project back up i noticed some audio had gone offline and also lost all projects in my current PROJECT EVENT. I then realized that FCPX had not backed up to my boot drive for almost an hour so of course all my work had been lost. Shouldn't FCPX be saving a copy every 15min?
In the finder I opened the Library using the "show contents" feature and see all my events as well as the Project event that had been lost. Is there a way to recover these projects via the finder or any other means? I've read something about replacing the CurrrentVersion.fcpevent but it was a post from last year and likely not helpful on this new version of FCPX.
Any help with this would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Jeremy Huff

"also lost all projects in my current PROJECT EVENT."
Did you lose all the projects in the event, or did you lose the event? There's a big different.
If you lost the event, with the application closed, open the library to show contents, and move the flexolibrary file to the trash.

Hi Tom,
Thank you for responding.
The "Event" is there, kind of. The little purple icon to the left is missing strangely, but the title of the event which is PROJECTS is still there. When I click on "PROJECTS" it is empty so I'd venture to say I lost all the projects and possibly the event. Haven't seen this before.
Would trashing the flexolibrary file still potentially solve this? I see all the projects in the library contents.
Thanks again!

Try moving the flexo file to the trash.

You have something seriously wrong with that Mac. Get it to an Apple store soon to be checked out.

So unfortunately moving the flexo file to the trash did not do the trick. There is definitely an issue with the iMac and we're aware of that. We've had the Apple store take a look at it and diagnostics came back clean. But clearly there is an issue. Was just hoping for a quick fix to my current missing project dilemma. Luckily I had exported cuts prior to crashing so was able to rebuild most of my projects.
Thanks again Tom for the flexo file trash tip. Gonna look into this further as well as other basic maintenance practices. I did download DB Pref manager so will start there as well as repair permission/safe boot. We'll see how it goes.
Best,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy,
The first and most importing thing to do is get your iMac working without any kernel panics. Most diagnoses done in Apple stores are hardware related while kernel panics can also be caused by other things such as corrupt user preferences. Preference Manager can take care of refreshing your FCP X preferences but not your general user prefs. And many times system issues like this are related to corrupt general user preferences.
A good thing to try is is create a new admin user account and see if Mavericks/FCP X runs smoother using this account. It probably will. You will need to manually re-enter some general user settings (mail, internet provider etc...). Don't use Migration Assistant to do this because Migration Assistant also copies any corrupt files from your older account into the new one. But once this is done you should have a clean and good working system you can rely on.
Automated backups are only made every 15 to 20 minutes when changes have been made to the Library since the last backup. Corrupt user prefs can prevent the app from backing up properly.

An individual Library gets backed up every 20 minutes, as long as your making changes in it.
I'd run Disk Warrior and repair the directories on all drives.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ronny.
Will see if a new admin user helps with the issue.

Jeremy
