Hi

I have an urgent question. I am a huge fan of Final Cut Pro X (pronounced TEN). I´ve realized that each time a new update is coming, there is great expectation and maybe a bit of "hysteria" about it.

Observing this behaviour, I was wondering during the last days: What WOULD YOU DO if Final Cut Pro X (pronounced TEN) was discontinued -let's say- next monday May 19th.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO? WOULD YOU CONTINUE BEING EDITORS?

WOULD YOU STILL USE INDEFINITELY FINAL CUT PRO X?

WOULD YOU SWITCH TO ANOTHER EDITING APPLICATION?

WOULD YOU GET DRUNK, DO SOME BELLY DANCE, GET MARRIED?

I THINK IT IS VALID QUESTION: WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

Hah! okay, I'll bite...

1. I would continue being an editor, or maybe an astronaut...
2. I would only stop using FCPX if it were discontinued on May 17. If it was on May 19, I would still use it...
3. I would maybe switch to FCP7 or iMovie. Maybe even Windows Movie Maker, but only for important projects...
4. I might consider getting married to a drunk belly dancer...

Since Apple has stated there is a ten year development plan for FCPX, I'd not answer the question. But, just for kicks. My answer would be; I'd go from semi-retired to fully retired, write a book about my life, and explore the world. First stop, that drunk belly dancer.

What if tomorrow suddenly the sun exploded? Would you continue being an editor?

If sun exploded, I would deliver all my project to my clients (I`m a very responsible) and I would definitely run to melt in the arms of a beautiful belly dancer.

Get out of my computer cave - see the light of day - get a tan (and maybe even be better looking... yeah I know fantasy only goes so far!) - follow Ben (the easiest way to find that belly dancer) and get a life. :cheer:

OMG! Sorry I am responding to this URGENT thread as fast as I can! I will try to type faster...

-Today is May 19th and Final Cut Pro X (pronounced eks) is still being offered. Apple only has 3 hours left in their workday to discontinue it. This might be one of those things that they pushed off on the new guy and he just hasn't gotten around to discontinuing it yet.

-I would continue to use Final Cut Pro X (pronounced echhs) as long as it suited my needs. Then I'd have to switch to Radiance EditDV on a G3.

-I would not get drunk and do bellydancing but I might do some bellyaching on the forum!

I once worked at a station that bought an NLE called SpeedRazor. Boy that was a dead end. We moved back to Avid.

Wow SpeedRazor, that's a blast from the past. I have to add that to my list of NLEs I've used and forgot existed.

(BTW, the X is a roman numeral to the Apple folks, so it is pronounced ten.)

We're not Roman, so it's eks. Also there is no version 8 or 9, so it's eks. Apple needs to get over their obsession with the letter X. If they want us to say 'ten" they can call it FCP10. Until then, it's eks.
