Is anyone aware of a way to do this with just FCP X and freeware? Or using compressor too?
I'm looking to deliver the following:
Video:
Codec: IMX (D10 I Frame YUV 4:2:2@Main Level
Container MXF(OP1a)
Frame Size: 720 x 608 (720 x 576 active picture area)
Frames Per Second: 25 interlaced
Field Dominance: Upper
Aspect Ratio: 16x9 Frame
Bit Rate: 30Mb/s
MXF RIP table: (Random Index Pack)

No, you cannot do this just with FCP X or Compressor. I don't know about any freeware for exporting OP1a. IMX MXF is quite an old interlaced format, not frequently used for delivery anymore. Are you sure you cannot deliver in any other standard?

I might be wrong if XDCAM SD is not MXF(OP1a), but if it is, I believe you could set up the required number of mono audio tracks and export directly from FCPX using XDCAM Clip exporter to generate the MXF … This is part of XDCAM Content Browser from Sony and version 1.1 is or was free.
Hope that Helps

That's correct. Bit IMX MXF is not the same as XDCAM MXF. That's why I asked if the client won't accept any other format. If you can deliver XDCAM MXF (which is much more common) follow the advice of François.
To be used with Content Browser Exporter, your Quicktime file needs to have
- 1 video track (XDCAM HD422 50 Mbits)
- 8 mono audio tracks
You can create this file in FCP X using Roles and exporting with "Roles As Multitrack Quicktime Movie".

I could not resist trying this out since I still believe this can be done using FCPX and the CONTENT BROWSER from sony: in fact all specifications , mostly IMX codec details: IMX (D10 I Frame YUV 4:2:2 mpeg2@Main Level point to SONY. In SD you will need 8 mono tracks generated by roles but they can be empty …
You might also need to go into the CONTENT BROWSER package to make an alias of the "Content browser exporter" outside of the app so you can select it the OPEN WITH popup menu…
Here is a Screen Grab of what it can look like
all the best

Would be interested to know if this works. Francois is that Content Browser 1 or 2 you are using? Are there any guides to using Content Browser with FCP X. My knowledge of both is zero.
Although MXF feels clunky it will be the defacto standard towards the end of the year as we move away from tapeless delivery. It may surprise many that *final* delivery for SD broadcast is still largely on Digibeta tape.
