10.1 Multicam Audio not playing was created by leo
Hey Guys,
I have a 2 hour multicam setup with 3 video and 2 audios (1 was a backup mic). If I right click on the mc clip and go Inside angle editor, the audio plays fine and I can activate / deactivate channels as needed as per usual.
However, when I click the back arrow to get back to the main storyline where I can choose which camera to cut to, the audio doesn't play. The video plays fine.
I am editing on a mbp with a usb3 hdd, so I know there is a performance hit, but the "generate audio waveform" render although took forever, has finished rendering.
How can I get the mc audio to play? It usually works with my setup, but this is the longest mc I have used so far...
PS. The audio is activated / checked in the inspector, and all other audio for other clips plays fine. I have "Create optimised media for multi cam clips" disabled / unchecked.
Thanks..
FCPX 10.1
Macbook Pro i7 8gb 650m 256SSD USB3 4TB
Audio - 96 and 48
Video - 1920x1080 h.264 .MOV

Doesn't matter what you set in the Angle Editor, that won't effect what is active, or how things are configured in the Project timeline. First, verify what Multicam angle is the active audio in the Viewer. Select the video clip you need to work with in the timeline, check the audio channel configuration in the Inspector from there.

2 hours is a massively huge timeline to actually be editing in. I'd break it up.
Roles? Yeah, do NOT disable roles you want to hear. Yeah, that too.

Thanks Ben,
Yep it's quite long but seems to run fine performance wise, but I know strange things can happen with large clips - how would you suggest to break it up? Cut up the clips and Create separate projects, sync, edit, then cut paste to assemble at the end or...? Any specific reason why it'd be better to do that?
Cheers..

2 hours is a lot to track during editing. Hollywood films are cut up and only edited in individual scenes, then assembled. Just easier to navigate and manage, plus performance, that's all. But if it is running fine now, I'd not worry about it.
