Hey everyone,
I create daily vlogs on YouTube, and I have an intro song which I change every month. I recently had a house fire, so I had to edit this month's intro on my laptop. I have gotten my imac back now, and I tried to make a video using the new intro in Final Cut Pro X on my laptop. For some reason, Final Cut is changing the pitch of the song no matter what I do. It sounds fine before I put it into the timeline, but then it changes and I can't change it back. I've tried many different video file types and different ways of transferring the video over, but as soon as it hits the timeline, it changes the pitch. To give you an example, here are two videos with the intro before and after the pitch change:

Where has the music file been, before getting into FCP?

At some point in its journey the sample rate has been jumped down, probably from 48KHz to 44.1KHz. That would account for the pitch shift.

FCP automatically converts the sample rate of incoming audio files to the standard 48k rate on import, but if that didn't happen on import, I'd expect the file to play back with raised pitch, not lowered. So probably it's happened before import to FCP.
