Custom Themes area..? was created by dkag7
Hi everyone..
I am looking to create a custom area inside of FCPX THEMES' area where I can keep frequently used Filters, Trans, titles, etc..

How to do this?
Is it possible to do this also with standard titles/filters/trans etc.. (by a copy/paste of the effect into another folder or something..)

What I am hoping for is that I could create a sub folder somewhere (if this is how its done), and copy effects/titles/ etc.. that I already made to this "themes" folder.. then they will all show up in FCPX 'themes' category.

In the movies>motion templates> folder, I see all the other sub folders (Titles, transitions, effects, generators, but not one for THEMES...

Thanks
Kurt

I don't know of any way to move titles, etc from one theme to another.
Themes can be assigned when saving in Motion. When you do save or save as, in Motion, you get to choose to add to an existing theme or creating a new one.

I just found this from Andreas on another post..
It looks like its working fine..

Dependent on the type of plug in (must be Motion Template) you can do a little hack on them which is way saver.

Open the template in text editor (TextWrangler recommend).
Find:
<factory id="16" uuid="fdc1944b229111d7b1c300039389b702">
<description>Channel</description>
<manufacturer>Apple</manufacturer>
<version>1</version>
</factory>

<template>
<theme>My Theme</theme>
</template>

"My Theme" is just a placeholder for a theme.
Replace the theme text with some thing of your choice like "Favorite Title", "Favorite Transition" etc.

In case you don't find the
<template>
go down the text till the last of the "</factory>" entries.

Then insert the
"

<template>
<theme>My Theme</theme>
</template>

"
and save.

This won't change the file path of the effect and will be compatible with any setup even if the setup on another machine's templates do not have the same themes.

Read the MTT manual its explained there a bit more in depth.
