Looking for a comprehensive up-to-date training suite for FCPX 10.1

Hi everyone,

Just like the title says. I've checked out lynda.com and Larry Jordan so far. Basically I'm looking for something that includes project files that I can work with. Larry Jordan doesn't seem to include that. Lynda does, but I don't want to pay 40 bucks a month for it. Can anyone recommend a good suite?

Ripple Training looks pretty good.

I've watched some of their free stuff and I like their style.
Also, their trainings are one time purchase.

The Ripple Training courses are first-rate. I highly recommend them.

You could also try the Peachpit Press books.

How many months do you anticipate it's going to take you to work through the training material? As I understand it, the assets that you get from Lynda.com are able to be used even if the membership is up.

My training is available from Class on Demand and comes with tutorial media.

I can recommend Tom's book and associated media. You might also check out www.izzyvideo.com/final-cut-pro-x-tutorial/

Ripple Training tutorials are great and very popular.

I also find the tutorials at MacProVideo very interesting:
www.macprovideo.com/tutorials/final+cut+pro+x-suite

I haven't actually purchased tutorials from them, but the ones that you can watch for free seem to go right to the point, a bit more focused in people that already have the necessary background. Since they don't waste any time explaining the very basics, they actually spend more time showing advanced techniques and workflows.

Anyway, just wanted to point out another good resource out there. Good luck with the training!

I would give Lynda.com a call and see if they will let you get the media for just that one title. They are helpful folks over there.

BTW. Lynda.com has lots of excellent training for FCPX and editing in general. It is not as geeky as Ripple training, but Ashley Kennedy is an excellent trainer with a great approach. I would highly recommend her other FCP titles and even her Avid courses as well.

I am part of the macProVide.com family of producers, to get that out of the way. So yeah, I'll promote their video training, plus their "HUB" free tutorial articles for FCPX and Motion 5. Iain Anderson and I do all of those.

I also want to point out the new book "Apple Pro Training Series: Final Cut Pro X 10.1; Professional Post-Production". The absolute BEST training on the market today, IMHO. Brendan Boykin did a killer job with it.

Looks like Ripple and PeachPit seem to be pretty popular here. Which of those two provide a more fun, user-friendly approach to training?

Be aware that Micheal Wohl, who was on the FCP dev team, does the mPV training. One of the best trainers around.

Video training is good, I personally prefer the hands-on approach, and ease of referring to the book. It is all personal preference. Some folks gravitate to some specific trainer's style, some to another, some to videos, some to books, all personal preference.
