When importing a FCPX XML file has anyone experienced any effects attached to clips being reset to their default values? Anyway around this?

You probably have the old version of fcpxml exported from FCP X < 10.1.
These XMLs don't support parameter settings – so everything will be reset.

Brilliant, thanks Andreas, i suspected that might be the case and you were correct, the machine i'm on now isn't on mavericks so not running 10.1 so don't have the latest version of XML.
