I haven't looked at SS in YEARS! Wow, is it still around? I use iZotope RX.

I actually bought SS a few years back but my needs for noise reduction are so rare and basic that for a couple of years I've just been relying on FCPX. I can now upgrade for $49, so I would also be interested to hear if it's really any better than the built in feature...

Is it an FCPX compatible plugin?
Do they have a trial version available for download?

www.soundness-llc.com/soundsoap3.html
It's been bought from Bias by Soundness. There is a standalone version for $79 that is sold on the App Store (no reviews) or a plugin for FCPX (standard AU/VST, etc.) that is only sold on their web site. There is a trial on the web site (found on the Support page.) They seem to be fairly active with updates, etc.
I haven't tried the demo - was just curious if anyone here had.

I may have to give it a spin. What's the URL for their web site?

I couldn't find the free trial download. Their site shows up oddly in Safari. Just recently switched to Safari cause FireFox was giving me page scrolling fits. But it is so slow, unintuitive, I'm not a big Safari fan.

It's in the Support area - here's a direct link to the page:

It works fine in (desktop) Safari for me...

FWIW, I gave it a try on a bit of dialog I had used both FCP X built in noise reduction and Soundtrack Pro with varying results. SS 3 got rid of the noise much more easily than either of those 2. Bought it, and the plugin works great in FCP X. Izotope RX clearly has more features, but for the price SS 3 seems like a good solution.

I decided to give it a try also. The trial version is the standalone only, not the FCPX plugin. But, I found it definitively better and more intuitive than the noise reduction built in to FCPX. Since I had bought SS years ago, I could upgrade for $49 - a no brainer for me.
