OK to delete Shared Items in the Library package?

I've been working on what's become a pretty massive FCPX project for the last few months, and I noticed that the Library size has ballooned to almost 9GB with all my media external and rendering turned off. Not a huge deal, but it takes some time when copying the Library from the Xsan to my local storage to work, and then more time to copy it back at the end of the day's session. (Our Xsan has a nightly backup to LTO so I'm very careful to make sure my project gets in on that safety net)

Looking inside the bundle I see that every approval QuickTime I've sent to clients has been duplicated in there, and that's closing in on 8GB worth. I manage these exports in a location on the Xsan so I don't really need the redundancy.

Things are working quite well so I don't want to upset the balance, but is there a reason why I wouldn't want to manually clean out the Shared Items in my Library to shrink the size down?

Thanks,
Bill

You can trash them whenever you like. Maybe you can find a different workflow when exporting that didn't put those files in there.

Thanks, Tom.

What workflow would you recommend? I don't see any option to prevent those shared files from being stored in the Library.

If you export a master file or a custom Compressor setting, any export option that makes you select a delivery location should not go to Shared.
