Hi,
I understand what I've read about the 1888 x 1062 being a QT thing to ignore because it just refers to what it views and that the resolution is still technically there but cropped??? However, I don't know how to proceed.
What I need in the end is a Master file, uncompressed in any way, 1920 x 1080 Apple ProRes 422 HQ.
Further details include that this is in Apple ProRes 422 HQ already in the sequence, it is 29.97 drop-frame.
I have the export that shows the format above (listed in the title). I am also exporting now using QT Conversion with the setting 1920 x 1080 HD. I've heard that will take off the 1888 x 1062 thing, but is that compressing it because I don't want that. Basically. I want the 1888 x 1062 off of the format, without any compression.
Or is it all moot and the file with the title above as its format be ok to submit for any future compression or distribution types (BluRay)
Thanks,
-Erica E

If the QuickTime player says
Apple ProRes 422 HQ 1920 x 1080 (1888 x 1062)
the file is 1920x1080. 188x1062 is the display sizes. You need a bigger monitor.
"What I need in the end is a Master file, uncompressed in any way,"
Just so you know, ProRes 422 HQ is a compressed format. Only Uncompressed is uncompressed.

Turn off clean aperture. In QT-7 its a choice under the presentation tab of the properties window.

Hi Erica,
If you don't want this "1888x1062" thing to appear in QT7, do what Marco says. That's correct.
But, as you say, this is all moot. Wether you change this setting or not will not have any influence on the file itself, it will only change the way QT7 displays the video.
Exporting the file again using QT conversion to get rid of the QT7 presentation setting is wrong and unnecessary. This will re-compress every frame of your video again, it will not do anything to the format of the video, and it will cause unneeded generation loss.
So just deliver the file as it is, it is ok for any master delivery. If your project sequence is set to ProRes HQ and you export to ProRes HQ you will get a master that is as good as uncompressed.
