Export from Imovie into FCP - Lower quality? was created by andykndr
Hello there. I've been using iMovie to work on some footage I filmed while I was in New Zealand, but iMovie doesn't have all the features I want, so I got FCP 10.0.9 and I used the option of importing from iMovie into FCP, but since I've done the import the quality of the footage in FC is worse than it was in iMovie. I filmed all footage in 720/1080 and that shows up in iMovie, but in FC it seems to be more like 420 or so.
Does anyone have any experience in this area or know how to fix it? It would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Select one of the clips and post a screen shot of the Info inspector.

Okay well, I looked at the info in FCP and it says 1080 HD which seemed weird since the quality looked less to me, so I took a screenshot of the same clip in both programs, and they appear to be the same. So I'm not sure if I was imagining things when I posted this or not, but I guess for now it's okay.
But instead of making a new topic, I do have two others questions, both with attached images. First, nearly all the footage in my project in FCP has turned blue, so do you know how to fix that?
And second, whenever I do stabilization it zooms the video way in. Is there some way to fix that?

There are some controls for stabilization in the inspector. If the background is moving like that the stabilization may not be able to lock the image properly. Try SmoothCam. Or there may be too much motion. You might also want to look at CoreMelt's Lock and Load for stabilization.
The blue footage is because the filmstrip has been built before it was interrupted. If you quick the application and reload it, waiting for the thumbnails it might rebuild. O trash the thumbnail folder in the Library bundle.
