custom fade to color

I have a project where I will be fading to white and back multiple times. The default is to black. I'd like to make a custom fade to white. When I right click on the transition, I don't have the option to open in Motion, only to make it a default effect which I don't want. If I want to publish a fade to white transition, how do I do that? Am I supposed to open a new project in Motion and redesign the dissolve from scratch? That seems sort of silly. thx

You can also copy and paste or option-drag to duplicate a transition.

That's what I'm doing now. In 7, I simply created a fade to white transition and kept it as a favorite. I had a whole bunch of them - different transition times, white, black, etc. Now I have to open a different timeline where my earlier transition is and copy from there or I use the default fade to color and change the color from black to white. I also have to manually adjust the transition time if I want it shorter (say a flash to white).

I guess I'll create them in Motion from scratch. Now I have to learn how to do it - every time I wind up in Motion, I feel like I'm in a foreign country! I don't get why there isn't a open a copy in Motion option like there is with other transitions. thx

Some of the transitions like fade to color and cross dissolve and some others aren't Motion effects at all.

Oh - that explains it. I guess that's why it can't be modified and saved/published. There should be a way though to have different versions of your transitions. If it's available in 7, it should be available in X. I'm sure there's a reason they can't do it. thx
