Hi,

i'm setting up my first large project on the new MacPro with FCPX. All the media is on two LaCie SSD-disks. I want to import the media without copying them because it is a large amount. One Lacie disk is seen as a device and Its possible to import media the way i want it. On the other lacie disk this is not possible as it is seen as a camera. So I can't choose the possibility of not copying the content, it is greyed out. Both disks are the same except for the size. The smaller one is 250 Gb , the bigger one is 500 Gb (being the one that works alright).

somebody any suggestions?

Check the drive that FCP X sees as a camera. If you have any AVCHD or BPAV folders folders on that drive you will have to hide them. Also make sure you don't have any folders named "Video" on that drive. Just change the name to "VID" or "MEDIA"or anything else and this will fix it.

If the problem persists, post a Finder screenshot of the root level of that drive so we can see if there are any other things in there that might make FCP X see the drive as a camera.

You probably have to change the name of one of the files or folders at the root level of the drive, something that makes the application think it's a camera drive.

thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately id doesn't make a difference. renamed the disk, started fcpx again... same issue. The smaller disk pops up at the camera list and has a small triangle to unmount it. Tha other harddisks don't have that....

Don't rename the drive, check if you have folders or files on that drive that may confuse FCP X (see the above posts).

found it :

there was an AVCHD-file in the first drive. This made FCPX think it was a camera. Thanks guys, it is fine to have some help on this issue. Have a nice day

Maybe post a screen shot of the root level of the drive. You aren't trying to import from a camera archive on the drive, are you?

the little disk is a copy of the bigger one, but on the little one there was an AVCHD-file. didn't pay any attention to that. Now I see it's a container with a lot of mts-files from my canon c100. I did make an folder to put in into, that solved the problem. thanks again
