Thank you for the link. A good read indeed and a well-balanced opinion form someone who seems to be knowing what he is doing. I just wish everyone would "rant" like this ;)

An interesting thought from the comments: "If Premier is FCP8, then Resolve 11 is FCP9". In that case FCP X is certainly FCP10 :P

You said it!
~ If we didn't have FCP X, I would be keeping a keen eye on Resolve 11.. Eventhough many of the edit features there seem directly related to FCP X ;)

As I said before: these two seem to get along very well indeed. Perfect organizing and fast magnetic editing in FCP X, advanced grading and final tweaks in Resolve then back to X for graphics, finishing and export. Best of both worlds. Now all we need more is a seamless integration between FCP X and Motion X ;)

Ronny, do you see yourself ever using a workflow that you would do all your final finishing in Resolve? Offline edit in FCPX send to resolve and then never leave?

Off Topic: The collaboration demo of Resolve 11 was the most impressive part for me. Being able to online while a team of people are coloring... man. That's going to change my world.

It depends on the production.

For many projects we don't use Resolve because FCP X has everything we need.

But Resolve is part of our finishing workflow for productions that require complex grading and image processing with few or no graphics, and I must say it plays very well with FCP X. For such projects you can edit in X and finish in Resolve and I'm happy to see they have improved the editing features for this purpose.

For very complex productions we offline in X and finish in Smoke, which is a complete finishing application with high-end grading, graphics and compositing tools as well as sufficient editing capabilities for final tweaks. Smoke and X also play very well together.
