Whats the best way to put markers on an audio music track

e.g. currently i manually tap 'M' on every 4th beat for the duration of the track.. Is there a quicker way to do this?

Thanks

You can copy/paste markers, but I'm afraid this won't be any faster than pressing M on every 4th beat as you are doing now.

To copy a marker: R-click it and choose Copy Marker. Then paste it in another location in your Timeline by pressing CMD + V.

Maybe I am the only person who edits footage at times to markers on an audio track idi, intro, verse, chorus, middle 8' etc.

Hey Phil,

You are absolutely not the only one :)

I love working with music and I often use markers to set cue points before cutting the video. But I'm sure you know that video cut on music looks better when you don't use a strictly mathematical rhythm. It's often better to cut your video in or out right before or after a beat to get a more organic edit. It's a bit like cutting dialogue in a narrative film: you use lots of L and J cuts exactly to avoid cutting video and audio at the same frame.

That's why I think placing the cue markers while playing the video is better than putting them exactly on the mathematical beats.
