X-TypeList app: New release was created by Andreas Kiel
As promised in the thread about chapter lists (
www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/...er-list-export#44011
) I spent some time on the app over the weekend.
The interface is smaller (doesn't cover that much space as before).
Also some "shortcuts" are available. In the prefs you can set up the way markers or clips are retrieved. The "Saves as ..." menus then will do the rest of the work – though you still have to type in a name for the file and a location where it should be saved.
A nice side effect is that the app allows to copy and paste TCs (that was something a really loved in legacy FCP). For pasting this requires to modify your command set a bit. Look at the quick help in the app or download the help here: www.spherico.com/filmtools/X-Files/X-TypeList/XTL%20Help.pdf
The reason I implemented these "strange" export options like like SRT and STL are based on some personal needs. Often enough I need to export a rough cut or parts of it and the clip names or marker names should be burned into the video.
With my X-Title Importer its pretty easy to do that using the files created by X-TypeList.
So these little apps might also be the answer for a question posted some days ago ( www.fcp.co/forum/4-final-cut-pro-x-fcpx/...as-a-title-onto-clip )
Download: www.spherico.com/filmtools/X-Files/X-TypeList/XTL%20Install.dmg
Have fun

Thanks Andreas for your great tool !!! Very usefull
Can I suggest a feature to add ? It's very handy to be able to export the timeline chapters but it could be great if we can import chapters (with TC) as well. A kind of "Copy/Paste Chapters" from one project to another.
Is it something that can be done ?!!
Keep up your good work !

Torp,
The way FCPX works it is not possible to just copy markers from one to another project. As far as I know it is not possible in any other NLE as well.
But as described above you can export markers to SRT or STL and use X-Title Importer to convert them to subtitles with markers. These can be used in any sequence -- just switch of the the visibility of the text.

Thanks Andreas for your fast reply !
I'm a newbie on chapter editing so, I was not aware of those limitations...

The other thing you can do is to create an adjustment layer and add the chapter markers exclusively to this one.
Then you can copy the layer clip and paste it into another project.
