Footage missing from Events (Corrupt Library?)

There is a bit of back story here which I will go into later.

I have a project.

Project has clips.

Clips have disappeared from Event.

They can be found with Reveal in Finder and do play. They will NOT re-import

The backstory is that both the Event and Project were re-imported from another library (via xml) which I also believe was corrupt in a different fashion.

This other fashion also had disappearing events and even at one point (and only one point) had disappearing media which had to be restored via camera backup (scary)

Has anyone seen anything like this?

I don't want to start another library as I am already deep into unwieldy territory in this (thankfully small) job.

Do you mean they won't reconnect, or they won't re-import as in when you drag them from the finder into the event, it comes up with an error? What are the error screens saying? Are you using managed or external media? What type of media (codec, framerate, etc.)? Also, please make sure you're set to "All Clips" in the event viewer.

Using the import window, I get no error message. Simply nothing happens. Dragging the media only imports (and duplicates) the audio files from the the zoom h2. It seems to pretend that the .h264 (Nikon d5300 1080p50) don't exist (though happily playing back in the project). There are no error messages. The media is external and has been successfully transcoded. I therefore have three folders (original, High and Proxy). They behave fine in the finder. And yes, it is set to "all clips" a mistake that I can often make .

If you make a new library with a new event, will it import then? You want to try to find out whether it's your clips that are wonky, or if it's FCPX. Also, I think trashing preferences with Preference Manager is a good thing to do, just in case.

In general, if the Library thinks that the clip is already there, it won't make a new master clip.

The new library imports the clips, transcodes etc. And then there is nothing in the event browser...

As this involves a restart and it is late on friday and the project can wait and I don't want to waste your time right now and my will kill me if I'm late for our date night....I'm going to do this on monday.

I will bump with the results then.
