Need a SD to HD effect.

I'm going to use SD footage in a HD timeline. (why ask why.)
What's the best thing I can do for the black bars on either side? Is there a way to up convert my finished piece or is there an effect I can use that will fill up the bars on either side? Thank you,

I am also very interested in any ideas about how best to use old SD footage in modern age of HD. Is there a plugin out there that addresses this situation?

I'm confused... Is Magic Bullet Instant HD compatible with FCP X?

I tried the trial version, but I didn't see any sign of Instant HD in FCP X.

No, I don't think so.

I'm going to go with Compressor 4. After all of my searching, that seems to be the best bet.
