Color correct clips in Event? was created by Jonathan Levin
I know that this was discussed not long ago, but I can't seem to be able to color correct a clip that is in an event.
I keep getting "Nothing to Adjust- select a single clip in the timeline"
I thought the idea was to be able to correct before bringing anything into the timeline?
What dumb thing am I doing wrong? I can't seem to get to the color board with a clip selected in an event that I'd like to correct. The only option I see is analyze color, and when I activate that, the colors look worse.
Thanks.

Select the clip in the event, right-click and use open in timeline. You can access the color board there.

Tom,
That did it!!!! Thank you so much!
This is so much better than how I used to do it in 7.
Question: Let's say you already have a particular clip being used in a project. Is there a way to do a correction on that clip in the event and have that change reflect in the the project along with the clip in the event?

Unfortunately not. You'd have to use Shift-F in the timeline and then Opt-R to replace for each instance. Use the timeline index to find the clips and move from one to the next. It may take you less time than it took me to type this on an iPhone.

Thanks again Tom. That works, though in a round about way.
I had to search for what Option-R is, Replace from Start.
I was surprised that is not in one of the menus, unless I'm missing something.
I'll send feed back to Apple.

Somehow I don't think this will get attention right away.
This is the reply from Apple:
"We recently received your feedback regarding Final Cut Pro X. You mentioned Color correcting clip in event.. I would not suggest color correction on clips in the Event. Do that in a Project timeline. You can then easily copy and paste attributes to apply the correction from one clip to other instances of it elsewhere in the Timeline. You can also use the Timeline Index to easily find an select other instances."

And my reply back to Apple:
"Color correcting in the Event makes sense to me and other editors I know. This way if you select pieces of that corrected clip (range) and use in a project in different places color correction is pretty much done.
In other words, color correcting clips before placing in the project eliminates/reduces correcting at the end of an edit.
What I’m saying is it would be nice if you could do the correction to a clip in the Event and if that clip is happens to already be in a project, the changes made in the event would sync with the clip(s) used in the project, thus eliminating the time it would take to find and then replace each and every instance of that altered clip. I do understand about Paste Attributes."

I don't understand their logic. Why wouldn't you want to color correct in the event? Then every time you drop a clip to the timeline, it's done. Is there some technical reason this can't be done?

As Tom says, you can correct in the Event.
The issue at hand is if that color corrected Event clip happens to already be assembled in one or more places in a Project.
What I'd like to have happen is any RE-ADJUSTMENT to the clip in the Event would synchronize to the clips in the Project. i.e. Make clip in Event totally blue, then all its bits and pieces used in Project would turn blue as well, without having to shift-f and then Option-R to all the referring cuts in the Project.
