Personally, I use YouTube and make the video unlisted. Send links to whomever needs to see it, then I can delete it later (low risk of unfinished work getting out into the wild). The main reason: anyone can see a YouTube video. No worry about codecs, etc.

Hey guys, we use Interdubs ( www.interdubs.com ), which is one of the better services I've seen. It's specifically designed for client review of videos and anything else, really. It's also really easy to make custom reels and things like that. You can completely customize the interface to your company design.

Interesting. Just today I had to upload a video for approval, and decided to test out YouTube again in addition to my Vimeo Plus account.

I find the same results as I did a year ago - YouTube creates a gamma shift in my videos. Everything is darker, and some shadow detail is lost. It's also slightly less sharp. I've read that with a Vimeo Plus account they apply two-pass instead of one-pass encoding, so that may explain that.

But, these are deal breakers for me. I also find that the videos usually default to SD on YouTube so I have to tell viewers to set it higher manually.

I've read that some Android users have trouble with Vimeo things if they are embedded in a web site, but I've never had a single user not be able to view Vimeo things from any device. I looked around online and this may be a problem that is solved now, especially if you make sure you've turned on the Mobile option for the video. Or maybe my viewers all either use a computer, iPhone, or iPad.

Anyway, everybody has different needs and should use what works best for them.

I just read an article on NoFilmSchool about Google Drive and offering 1TB of storage for $10/month. Is anyone using Google Drive to send files to clients for approval? What is the batch upload/email situation like and are the files secure?

I've actually sent a large master via Google Drive once per client request. Not exactly sure why they needed it that way other than the fact that they were used to it. Anyway, it worked fine and is similar to Dropbox in a lot of ways. All I did was put the master file in the Google Drive folder and it started to sync (which is really an upload). I'm guessing you can do a "batch" upload by simply moving a bunch of files in there, and it will eventually sync.

As for security... well, that's a question for Google. It's about as secure as any other Google service, I suppose (which is to say there may be some privacy issues like any Google service). You can set only the people you want to be able to access your file, and you can send them that link via email.

Yeah, just checked out Google Drive (I somehow already have 25GB of space for free) and it's pretty sweet. I like that you can share folders which will allow people to upload in the field.

Wipster also looks good. I'm a big fan of Kollaborate (said it before) but it's a very competitive space and all the innovation is nice to see.

Not bad of a price, only use I have well more the clients I know. Is that they don't trust Google.
Which is why I went with copy.

For final approval I'em still old school... in person. :)

With regards to Google Drive...it works beautifully. Just drag to its folder and it automatically syncs to the web. Then you can share the files in a very granular way. They can be streamed or downloaded... (Even on mobile devices using the Google Drive app). However I've noticed the streaming is lower quality than downloading.

Also as an FYI MP3s are currently blocked from streaming.

I chose Vimeo to upload and send a link to the client and the clients IT team blocked the site!!

I had to burn a disc and drop it off costing me time and money I never expected.

You might want to look into https://copy.com?r=yyLfen ;)
If you need to show your project I would also suggest maybe hosting your own online space. :cheer:
