Multiclip is totally screwed on export, must be a bug? - HELP PLEASE!

Hi everyone,

I am in deep trouble with a multiclip that totally went nuts.

I very often work with multiclips and I really know how to handle them. This has never happened to me before and I hope that you can help me!

Here's what goes wrong: I have a MC applied to a project timeline. The project is finished and ready to export. When I render it and watch the timeline in the viewer, it's all good.

BUT: When I export the project, all adjustments made inside the multi clip are gone. Color correction: gone. SliceX masking: gone. Cropping/Trimming: gone.

When I open the MC and for example lower the saturation in all clips to zero, the project will play nicely in b/w. When I export it, it's all in color again. Uncorrected.

I did a test and added one more camera to the MC. When I edit footage of that new camera into my project timeline it plays nicely in the viewer. BUT on export it does not show up, it's like a blank clip.

WTF?

This is quite a labor intensive project with lots of FxFactory overlays. I'd hate having to start over again. On a side note: turning off the plug-ins doesn't help.

I already trashed my prefs and tried all sort of fixes offered by the Digital Rebellion Pro Maintenance Tools. Does not help.

I have never encountered this behavior before. If it is a bug people should know about it, it is a very bad flaw.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks,
Sebastian

PS: Will try to re-install FCPX and let you know if that helped.

Yikes.

You've tried deleting project render files and exporting from a completely unrendered timeline, yes?

Oh yes, I have tried that. Without success. :(

Okay, re-installing FCPX did not do the trick, it made no difference.

Will now copy the project into a fresh library. Who knows.

Okay, I have never had tis problem, but I have some ideas. First, have you tried turning off all the third party plugins and exporting with just the color correct? I'm just curious if it is one bad apple that is screwing things up. If this works, maybe you could bake your effects in into the media from each track and then replace the original media with the pre rendered versions. I did have a MC go screwy once and I deleted the media from the tracks and reapplied it (one track at a time carefully putting the media in exactly the same place to preserve the timing of my project cuts). Lastly, you could try exporting an XML and then open the XML and let FCP rebuild the project from scratch.

I hope this is somewhat helpful.

Hi Daniel,

thanks for your answer. Except for the XML I had tried what you say, without success.

I SOLVED MY PROBLEM, though. Copying the project into a freshly created library did the trick. No idea what was going on there but just in case this happens to somebody else you all might like to keep this in the back of your head.

Cheers,
Sebastian
