Can you set the Project poster frame?

Can you set the Project poster frame? was created by CMessineo
When you create a project it selects a frame from your film as uses that image as the icon/poster frame for the project.
First, is there a way to set the frame it chooses?
Second, with about a third of my projects it never chooses any frame (I just have a black image) and I don't know why. Has anyone else seen this?
Thanks,
Chris

Chris,
I get a blank (black) project icon as well. Sometimes it gets restored, but not sure what's up with that. Someone here will have an answer I'm guessing.

I'm wondering about this too. I was using an adjustment layer title from Ripple and the Project now shows up with BLANK ADJUSTMENT LAYER in caps instead of an image. That suggests it picks up the image at a specific point along the timeline.

That's a bummer.
I will send in a request, but sometimes I wonder were those go.

They actually do read them, and will follow up if necessary. For feature requests, the more they get for a particular issue, the more likely it is to happen. Unless it's asking for tracks to be added... those get ignored.
Can't sleep? Try this: fcpxpert.net ;-)

I believe it is a bug. I've gotten more and more black screens for my projects thumbnails since 10.1.

hey folks -- wondering where this issue is now. I want to set the poster frame for my video, rather than the random one it exports with.
I read you could set a poster frame in Quicktime Player in the View menu, but alas that option is not there.
Thanks

You need QT player 7 to do this: open your movie, choose View > Create Poster Frame and select the frame.

Also, it would be great if we could skim projects in the Event browser (like we can do with Compound clips). How about making a feater request for this?
If skimming worked with projects in the Browser, we could use this feature to set a custom poster frame for the project as well, just by clicking with the skimmer in the desired frame. Wouldn't it be nice?
