Since upgrade to FCX 10.1.1 and Mavericks I can not longer type in Textbox some Icelandic character. Those are with slash such as Í, Ó, Ú Á. All other works well. I have contacted Apple and they can not see any problems. This happens also in Motion. There are no problems with text editors or other application. Any idea that can explain this problem or suggestions, are highly appreciated.

You might try this question on the Apple discussions forum, where there is the only other Icelandic user I know of. Goes by innocentius. You might be able to contact him directly.

Makki,

This is an old problem since whatever version,
I filed that to Apple long time ago. It has nothing to do with Icelandic – could be any other language special characters as well, with some Chinese characters FCPx even crashed.

Where do type your text? In the Inspector window or in the Canvas. Try the canvas.
Another option is to type the text in a text editor, copy and paste it into the canvas text editor field.

Thanks for reply. It is the same in Canvas as in text field. Yes the option to copy paste works well, as a workaround. But I am surprised that Apple claimed that they had no problems with those characters. I am sure they only used conventional text editor not FCPX. and Tom thanks for your suggestion, but then I must have a conversation with my self :)

Just for research to figure out the error. What title effect are you using?
Apple wrote that the bug is resolved.

I have figured it out. It is my brand new USB Apple keyboard, that causes this. The keyboard is connected to my new Mac Pro. I found it out by connecting an old keyboard and then there was no problems with the characters. Very strange.

for a second I thought "could Makki and Innocentius be the same person?"
Then I thought "... nooo, Iceland isn't THAT small.. is it?"
...

not small, but perhaps not so much Icelanders are interested in video-editing..
Good to see you here too, þú brjálaður orð flækjum á eyjunni í ísnum! :woohoo:

Hi Karsten Good to see you here ! Yes it is the same person. Well in Iceland are 300 inhabitants. We produce about 6-7 long movies. But we buy most Apple items in the world number two after USA (per capita) and you are getting better and better in Icelandic :cheer:

Thanks to translate.google.com ... ;)

The trick is:
I have to read out loud, what I read = no Icelander would recognize his/her own language, but Icelandic has its Germanic roots, so, I catch up a few thoughts... btw: works perfect with Dutch! And a bit with Swedish...-

Kveðjur á norðurslóðum!!

ok, here I catch only 'norders' = Nordern = northern...
what roots Kveðjur has with Grüße... no idea?!
:woohoo:
