Masking the Luma Key was created by foxytom
Hi there,
This should be an easy one for someone who knows what they are doing...
I have presenter in a studio with a properly lit white bg. I want to key out the white, which I have done with the Luma mask.
This looks OK except that the light reflected in her eyes is also keyed out.
How can I mask her eyes? She is not moving that much so I should be able to just stick a rectangle (or whatever) on there.
Cheers,
T

Hi Tom,
When the presenter isn't moving too much you can indeed mask her eyes out.
- Place a duplicate of the clip above the original clip (the one with the Luma Keyer effect)
- In the inspector remove the Luma Keyer effect from the top clip
- Apply the Mask effect to the top clip (also in the Keying category)
- Adjust the onscreen controls for the Mask so only her eyes are inside the mask
- Apply Feather and Roundness as needed
- If the presenter is moving you cannot keyframe the mask but then you could get similar results by using the crop settings instead of a mask. You can animate the crop settings but you can't feather the crop.
There are some alternative free mask plugins (I think from Alex4D) that allow key framing. If you do a search on the forum you can find them.
