Its pretty much confirmed that the latest version of Final cut Pro will make use of two video cards on the classic mac pro as well as the new one.

Now is where things get a little hazy. Will I suffer any ill effects in Final cut Pro if I have a monitor plugged into that second card?

Do you mean a second monitor in the second card? Maybe not. In the primary card, it will allocate a specific amount of VRAM and resources to the monitor, the rest is free for OS X applications to use. Since the load is balanced out between two cards, I can say 100%, but my understanding is the OS will balance out resources/VRAM between the two cards. So the same monitor on both cards in theory shouldn't effect anything. But one never knows until one actually does it in real life. Numbers on paper and theoreticals never match real world performance.

On the other hand, two cards with two monitors will still be way faster than one card with two monitors, or even one card with only one monitor. So you have that working in your favor.

It seems like this will work out for me. To clarify, I want to plug one monitor into each card.(two cards, one monitor each)
thanks for the reply
