We are trying to upgrade my Dad's FCPX (10.0.9) on his Macbook, to the latest version of FCPX version 10.1.1, however we keep getting a message when we try to update "we could not complete your update. Final Cut can't be installed on this computer because it requires at least 4GB of memory".

On my Dad's Macbook he has capacity of 249.2GB and available there is 165.8GB.

Anyone experienced this before?

Many thanks in advance
Lauren

The message means RAM not capacity of the disk. Bare minimum is 4 GB RAM and of course Mavericks.

Min 4GB RAM, for real world performance you'll need 8GB RAM. Be sure you're running OS X 10.9, also.

As Ben said 8 GB needed. You can not even open the application with 2 GB
