Can no longer import layer files....

FCP day from hell today!

First find out that I can't work on a layered PSD or tiff files and then have those changes sync with the project.

Now, my latest issue is I can't seem to get an imported layered file of any kind to display layers! I used to be able to double click the image clip in the project and it would expand that clip. Now I can't do that and the option is grayed out in the contextual menu!

Anyone have any ideas about this. I've done this a million times, but today it's not working....

I think I found out that FCP X does not like layered tiff files. Regular layered PSD files import and I am able to access layers in X.
